Bio
Thanks for checking out my website. I'm Nicholas, I was born and raised in Enid, Oklahoma and am currently a junior high math teacher at my alma mater, Pioneer-Pleasant Vale. I am also a folk singer/songwriter with two solo albums released and a third in the works.
My earliest memories of music are primarily made up of riding in the car and listening to classic rock radio or a Garth Brooks cassette tape that I always insisted my parents play. Then when I was about 8 years old I received a Beatles hits CD from my Aunt and Uncle and ever since I have had an incurable case of Beatlemania. In my final years of high school I began digging deeper into the catalogs of artists such as Simon and Garfunkel, Jim Croce, and of course Bob Dylan. Exploring the catalogs of these artists and others exposed me to the type of songwriting I now try to do myself.
When I wrote my first song in the summer of 2014, I had been playing guitar for a couple of years, but it had always been nothing more than a hobby. But as my good friend, Carter Postier, also began writing songs and I continued to write, we eventually decided to make some home recordings of the songs we had written, which we did in the summer of 2015.
In the years since then, I continued to write and occasionally perform while attending OU, and in May, 2018 I had the opportunity to get into the studio and record my first solo album, Master of My Fate, which was released July 13, 2018. I returned to the studio in autumn 2019 to record Winter In Morristown, a quasi-concept album in which the narrator explores themes of hope and despair while dealing with loss in a fictional small town.
My most recent release is a single, Half Mile, which is the lead single for an upcoming EP to be released in April, 2025. Half Mile is actually a song written by Carter and I back in our Intangible Road days, but it's meaning still strikes home for me now as much as it did 10 years ago.
I hope you will enjoy my music, and always feel free to contact me just to let me know what you think! Thanks for reading!
